My first post, and not much to report.
The end of July also marked the end of my tenure as an articled student, and a call to the Alberta Bar as a full-fledged lawyer. It was a fantastic ceremony - Alberta is the last province in Canada to continue the tradition of personal, one-on-one bar call ceremonies - and was filled with good times and good people. Definitely a cherished moment.
It also marked the end of working in a law firm. There will be lots of coworkers and colleagues that will be missed.
August is an 'in Canada' month, full of preparations, vaccinations, and other contemplations. I'm appropriately acquiring more and more materials on Kenya, travelling, international development, and what I think is relevant literature. So far, I am approaching this with an open, even empty, mind. There's a lot to look forward to, and a lot to learn!
For now, I will sit down and make checklists, and organize things that I have so far.
